Search feature
There should be some option of searching the repository for specific key words, in case a user comes to PT looking for a very specific thing. Browsing through the categories is nice, but if PT is to be an efficient design tool, the users should be able to pick out exactly what they are looking for. I think this would be a perfect application for visual search too.

Improve browsing collections
Scenario:
I click on a collection, and am taken to a gallery of example thumbnails. If I click on one of these thumbnails I am taken to a details page of this particular thumbnail. I now wish to see the next example from this collection.Current user behavior
I click back in the browser, look around for the example I just viewed, and when I find it I click on the thumbnail next to it. Rinse and repeat. This solution entails unnecessary steps and a frustrating cognitive load. Also, there are small arrows on the top right of the example details page. These arrows however browse some other structure.Suggested implementation:
Add a clear indication of where I am and how I got there, using breadcrumbs. Also, add navigation for going to the next or the previous example from the collection. This can be done either using just arrows, or using small thumbnails, Flickr style.Thank you for bringing this up!!! We've looked closely at this behavior, and have been looking at ways to implement the best solution. Rather than guessing, we wanted to get people on the site and try it out. Your suggestions are great! We'll be addressing this in our second phase.

Why can't people upload their own inspiration?
I totally had this idea! Argh… So basically, the big turn off for me is that I can't upload my own inspiration. It makes sense that the "official" groups would be moderated, but not my own personal collections. This can only be useful if designers like myself are allowed to upload our own inspiration to our own private galleries. Come ON!
We utterly understand your need for this. And thankfully there are sites out there that help you do this. Flickr and Scrnshots are just two great examples. The reason we've limited the tap to a handful of uploaders is to maintain a high degree of quality. You'll notice on sites like Scrnshots that the quality varies. We are pushing for a real niche here.
In the meantime, we'd love to see your contributions submitted (see http://patterntap.com/page/contribute), and we'll be looking at implementing a submission feature, but even then, it would still go through a review process.

Allow user sets to be marked private
I've found myself using the user set feature for different projects. So I make a set for a specific project and then add inspiration for it there.
These don't need to be on the public list because they are not useful to anyone other than myself and they simply clutter things up. So if they could be marked as private it would work out really wekk.
Another outstanding idea. Thanks Mr Matt McManus!

Create a collection for preloaders.
It would be cool if you had a collection for unique preloaders.

add a grading feature
Some examples are nice, some stink. To keep the site sane it'd be nice to be able to thumbs up/down or similar on the examples.

If I am already logged in, why am I being asked again here?
I'm showing logged in on the site but this feedback page is not aware of that and asks again, saying that I am currently anonymous.

add some metadata to the RSS feed posts
I just added the Tap feed to my reader - works like a champ! However, it'd be nice to be able to see more about a pattern you've just added - perhaps what collection that pattern was added to? tags?
Just a thought.
This is definitely on our list, along with some other RSS improvements. Thanks Matt!

Add a function to tag duplicates
Some examples are *very* similar to eachother, which adds unnecessary clutter. A function to tag an example as a duplicate of example foo would help you and the users to keep the pattern examples clean and lean.

Enable PicLens > 1000 images = Too many clicks
PicLens Firefox add on is a must for this site.

Delete sets?
I can't find a way to delete my empty sets?

add a category for media players
Like the Title says... I think it would be a great category for designers looking for media player inspiration. It doesn't necessarily fall into the "audio" or "button" categories.
I can see the need for this. I believe this one could get added.

make it possible to comment on collections
Scenario:
I would like to share my views on a particular pattern (Which in your terminology is a collection).Current user behavior:
I select a collection, select one of the examples, and share my views as comments to that example.Suggested implementation:
Add a comment function on a collection level. Consider renaming collections to patterns - since collections really are patterns with a collection of examples. -

"People" are in what order?
I'm guessing people are in order of seniority?
What about when you have 300? (How to avoid feeling lost & unimportant?)
Perhaps the logged-user could appear first? Followed by your friends/those you follow/follow you?
Perhaps sort features, by submissions, contacts, etc.?If you peek at the top of the People nav you'll notice that people can be sorted by "Most Recent" or by "Popularity". Popularity is based on how many users are following the various sets that person has created.

More Informative Page Titles for Collections
When viewing user sets, the title of the set appears in the page title. This isn't the case for collections. I just tried to see which collection I was viewing by looking at my browser's title bar, and ended up having to scroll to the top of the page.

Once I login, take me to a page without the login form.
Keeping the login form on the login results page is confusing, like I got my password wrong and to try again.
